China, US may roll back tariffs

It has been reported in the media that China & US are willing to roll back the tariffs that they imposed on each other’s goods, provided that phase one trade deal is completed. White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told the reporters “I cannot get ahead of the talks with China, but we are very, very optimistic that we will reach a deal soon.”

However, there are still some experts who feel that the deal could fall apart. Thus, Michael Pillsbury, an outside adviser to Trump observed, “The American side has been ambiguous when and which tariffs will be lifted. The Chinese have some wishful thinking and are trying to soothe their domestic hardliners that the tariffs will someday come off.”
