India’s electric vehicle market registered strong growth in October, with passenger EV sales jumping 57% to 18,055 units, led by Tata Motors and MG Motor India. The two-wheeler segment also inched up 3%, with Bajaj Auto, TVS, and Ather dominating sales. Electric three-wheeler registrations rose 5%, while electric commercial vehicles posted the strongest acceleration, more than doubling year-on-year. Overall, the EV ecosystem continued its upward trajectory across categories, driven by rising consumer adoption and a broader model lineup. Electric passenger vehicle retail sales recorded a strong 57% rise in October, reaching 18,055 units, according to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). This marks a significant jump from the 11,464 units sold during the same month last year, with Tata Motors continuing to dominate the segment. Tata Motors led the market with 7,239 units sold in October, maintaining its leadership position with a steady 10% year-on-year increase. MG Motor India followed with 4,549 units, registering an impressive 63% growth compared to October 2024. Mahindra & Mahindra took the third spot, posting a substantial rise by delivering 3,911 units, sharply up from 955 units a year ago. Kia accounted for 656 units, and BYD contributed another 570 units to the segment’s overall performance. In the electric two-wheeler market, retail sales reached 1,43,887 units last month, reflecting a modest 3% increase from 1,40,225 units in October 2024. Bajaj Auto led this category with 31,426 units, followed by TVS Motor Company with 29,515 units. Ather Energy maintained a strong presence with sales of 28,101 units, while Ola Electric retailed 16,036 units. Hero MotoCorp and Greaves Electric Mobility added 15,952 units and 7,629 units, respectively. The electric three-wheeler category also saw positive momentum, rising 5% year-on-year to 70,604 units in October. Meanwhile, the electric commercial vehicle segment registered the most robust growth, more than doubling to 1,767 units compared with the same month last year. Overall, the electric mobility ecosystem continued to expand across categories, supported by improving product availability, wider adoption, and sustained consumer interest.
