India-US to reduce trade differences

In his interaction with US President Donald Trump along the sidelines of G7 meeting in France, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India plans to further increase imports, including oil, from the US. The relationship between the 2 economies is strained due to issues such as the withdrawal of GSP benefits to India & the rise in tariff imposed by India on 28 goods emanating from the US. The two leaders discussed ways to bolster their strategic partnership and greatly increase trade between the United States and India.
