India Business and Trade, the thought leadership platform of Trade Promotion Council of India, organized a webinar on “Made in India, Worn Worldwide: Emerging Opportunities in Apparel Exports”.
The webinar explored India’s evolving role in the global apparel trade, which reached US$ 447.2 billion in 2023. Experts discussed India’s potential to become a preferred sourcing destination amid shifting global dynamics and narrowing tariff gaps with China. Key focus areas included high-growth product categories, sustainability and traceability standards, leveraging FTAs, and improving lead times.
The panelists emphasized the importance of integrated apparel hubs, digital technologies, and AI-driven solutions for design and buyer engagement. The session highlighted India’s strengths and strategies to compete with Bangladesh, Vietnam, and China in global markets.
