The government is expected to extend the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme for exporters, according to an official cited in the report.
The existing scheme is scheduled to end on September 30. The official said the commerce ministry is in discussions with the finance ministry regarding its extension.
Launched in 2021, RoDTEP provides exporters with refunds for taxes, duties and levies incurred during the manufacturing and distribution of exported goods when those costs are not reimbursed through any other mechanism at the central, state or local level.
Refund rates available under the scheme range from 0.3% to 3.9%.
The budget allocation for RoDTEP stood at ₹18,232 crore in 2025-26, while the allocation for the current fiscal year is ₹10,000 crore.
