Rajasthan aims to become a fully developed economy by 2047 under its Developed Rajasthan @2047 Vision, targeting a US$ 4.3 trillion economy by India’s centenary of independence. Anchored on agriculture, industry, tourism, and renewable energy, the plan emphasizes public welfare, sustainable infrastructure, rapid development, and effective governance, with interim milestones for 2030, 2035, and 2040. Key goals include expanding manufacturing, increasing women’s workforce participation, achieving 100% school enrolment, and boosting tourism.
Rich in minerals, textiles, agriculture, and solar potential, Rajasthan is advancing IT infrastructure, heritage conservation, and green industrialisation.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, the Rajasthan government has introduced the Developed Rajasthan @2047 Vision Document, charting a comprehensive roadmap to transform the state into a fully developed economy by the centenary year of Independence.
The document targets building a US$ 4.3 trillion economy anchored on four key pillars — agriculture, industry, tourism, and renewable energy. It envisions world-class infrastructure, universal literacy, accessible healthcare, sustainable water management, and empowerment of women and youth.
The vision is structured around four major themes and thirteen sectors:
1. Public Welfare and Social Empowerment: Including agriculture, health, education, and social welfare.
2. Rapid Development, Prosperity, and Employment: Covering industry, mining, tourism, and cultural growth.
3. Infrastructure and Sustainable Development: Focusing on water security, environmental sustainability, and climate resilience.
4. Policy, Finance, and Governance: Integrating rural and urban development, public services, and financial management.
Departments have formulated comprehensive action plans supported by yearly financial reviews, continuous monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms to ensure accountability. Interim targets for 2030, 2035, and 2040 have been defined to maintain steady progress toward the Rajasthan @2047 vision.
Inspired by global benchmarks, the state aims to raise the manufacturing sector’s share in Gross State Value Added (GSVA) to 20% by 2047, extend life expectancy to 77 years, and reduce infant mortality to below 10 per 1,000 births. Additionally, the government seeks to raise women’s workforce participation to over 60% and increase Rajasthan’s share in domestic tourism to 15%. It also aims at attaining 100% school enrolment, with all schools upgraded to smart, computer-equipped facilities. Focusing on tourism and heritage conservation, Rajasthan is set to establish itself as a leading global tourism destination, according to an official.
Meanwhile, a major electric vehicle manufacturing project is being established at the Ghiloth Industrial Area in Neemrana tehsil, along the Delhi–Jaipur National Highway in Rajasthan. Spread over 65.56 acres, the plant will play a key role in producing affordable e-buses for nationwide use and advancing India’s renewable energy and sustainable mobility sectors. PMI Electro Mobility Solutions will invest ₹1,200 crore to build this state-of-the-art facility under a memorandum of understanding signed at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit in Jaipur in December 2024. The facility will not only assemble electric buses but also manufacture key components such as bus bodies, electric motors, batteries, and wire harnesses.
The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has allotted the land for the project. A delegation from PMI Electro Mobility met Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to brief him on the proposed annual production capacity of 33,000 units.
The Chief Minister said the initiative would help Rajasthan emerge as a leading hub for electric vehicle manufacturing in India, creating substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities. He added that youth would also receive skill training in the field of electromobility. The project is expected to drive green industrialisation, strengthen the local economy, and promote sustainable urban development while reducing environmental pollution.
Rajasthan, known as the “Land of Kings” and India’s largest desert state, is a captivating northern destination that attracts travelers from around the world. The state boasts a vibrant mix of bustling cities, friendly locals, rich cuisine, grand palaces, and historic forts.
The state is rich in natural and mineral resources, holding the highest reserves of marble, limestone, and sandstone in India. The state is India’s largest producer of coarse cereals, blended fabrics, and wool, and leads in the production of polyester viscose yarn, synthetic fabrics, suiting materials, and low-cost, lightweight textiles. Rajasthan is a prominent player on India’s solar map, enjoying 300–330 clear, sunny days annually.
Agriculture and allied activities account for 24% of the state’s GDP, supporting 62% of its workforce. In 2021-22, these sectors contributed 30.23% to Rajasthan’s Gross State Value Added (GSVA) at current prices, with a growth rate of 4.78% over the previous year (at constant 2011-12 prices).
The state is India’s leading producer of coarse cereals and coriander, the second-largest producer of pulses, oilseeds, and cumin, and accounts for 90% of the country’s marble, slate, and sandstone production, holding a monopoly in certain ceramic minerals. Overall, 79 varieties of minerals are found in Rajasthan.
The services sector in Rajasthan is thriving, fueled by tourism, which leverages the state’s rich natural landscapes, history, art, forts, palaces, lakes, wildlife sanctuaries, sand dunes, folk traditions, and handicrafts. Tourism has strengthened the hospitality industry, generating employment, while the IT sector continues to expand with dedicated parks and infrastructure in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Kota.
Rajasthan’s combination of mineral wealth, agriculture, renewable energy potential, tourism, and IT infrastructure positions it as a key contributor to India’s economy.
