During the 8th Meeting of the Mission Steering Group (MSG) of the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM), the Union Minister Piyush Goyal approved 11 project proposals related to technical textiles. The total value of these projects is close to INR 103 crore.

On Thursday, the government granted approval to 11 project proposals in the realm of technical textiles, amounting to nearly INR 103 crore. Piyush Goyal, endorsed these proposals during his chairmanship of the 8th Meeting of the Mission Steering Group (MSG) for the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM).
The project proposals encompass nine research and development (R&D) projects, one focusing on machine development, and another on equipment development.
Goyal underscored the importance of fostering collaborative efforts between the government and industry to promote the indigenous development of technical textile products.
“The projects cover different application areas of technical textiles including 2 projects of Protech, 2 Meditech, 2 Mobiltech, 1 Buildtech, 2 Smart Textiles and 1 project of Sustainable Textiles,” according to an official statement.
The Union Minister conducted a comprehensive review of various aspects of the National Technical Textiles Mission. This included an assessment of the progress in different components, such as the review of sanctioned R&D projects and the status of applications under General Guidelines for Enabling Academic Institutes in Technical Textiles Education in India (Round-II).
Additionally, the implementation of Quality Control Orders issued by the Ministry of Textiles, guidelines for patents in research and development, outreach activities, and events under NTTM were also scrutinized during the review.
