At the 5th India-Japan Cyber Dialogue in Tokyo, held on September 15, representatives from the two countries discussed recent developments in the cyber world as well as explored opportunities for collaboration at international platforms like the United Nations and various regional forums, including the Quad framework.

New Delhi, September 15: India and Japan have reviewed the progress achieved in the areas of cyber security and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) including 5G technology, post which, the two nations have agreed to step up cooperation to improve skills in securing cyberspace at bilateral and multilateral levels.
Representatives from both nations addressed recent developments in the cyber domain at the 5th India-Japan Cyber Dialogue in Tokyo. They looked into possibilities for cooperation at several regional and international forums, such as the Quad framework and the United Nations.
Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary of the Cyber Diplomacy Division within the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), led the Indian delegation whereas on the Japanese side, Ishizuki Hideo, Ambassador responsible for Cyber Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, led the delegation.
A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs said, “Both sides exchanged views on latest developments in cyber domain and mutual cooperation at the United Nations and other multilateral and regional forum, including under the Quad framework.”
The Indian delegation comprised senior officials from MEA, ministries of home affairs, defence, and electronics and information technology, National Security Council Secretariat, Department of Telecommunications, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre and Embassy of India in Tokyo.
The Japanese delegation included senior officials from National Centre of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), MOFA and other departments concerned.
India invited the Japanese delegation for the sixth India-Japan Cyber Dialogue in New Delhi in 2024.
