Indian Biogas Association (IBA) is collaborating with many global organisations like the German Biogas Association to encourage the development of the bio-energy sector in India. The industry body has received commitments for new investments worth Rs 2,755 crore at the recently organised Renewable Energy India Expo 2023.

New Delhi, October 16: At the recently held Renewable Energy India Expo 2023, the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) announced an ambitious commitment of Rs. 2,755 crore in new investments. IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia has said that the IBA has successfully secured investment pledges amounting to Rs. 2,755 crore at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2023.
IBA, an industry consortium representing stakeholders in bioenergy sector, has signed joint ventures (JVs), MoUs (memorandum of understanding) and received LoIs (letter of intent) commitments during the recently concluded Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo held at Greater Noida from from October 4 to 6.
Kedia emphasized that this substantial financial commitment is expected to be realized within the next three years. Notably, the international community demonstrated keen interest, with companies from countries such as Germany, Sweden, and Italy showing their support. Kedia remarked, “We have entered into several MoUs, cumulatively valued at over Rs 1,000 crore for joint ventures, and we have received inquiries for an additional 54 LoIs to establish compressed biogas plants in the country.”
The IBA is notable for being the first professional, national biogas association for manufacturers, operators, and planners of biogas facilities. It’s members comprises people from research, science, and public policy sectors. It was established in 2011 and redesigned in 2015 with the goal of using biogas to promote a sustainable and green future.
One of the biggest trade shows with a focus on energy efficiency technology, such as electric cars and battery storage, and renewable energy sources, such as bioenergy, solar, and wind power, was this one. The report also mentioned that the goal of this exhibition was to advance India’s pledge to achieve net zero emissions.
