India is poised for a significant workforce transformation, with agentic AI projected to impact over 10.35 million jobs by 2030, as per the ServiceNow AI Skills Research 2025, conducted in partnership with Pearson. This marks one of the largest global transitions and underscores India’s leadership in AI adoption and digital innovation.

India’s AI journey is at a defining moment with agentic AI reshaping the workforce and creating over 3 million new tech jobs by 2030,” said Sumeet Mathur, senior VP and MD, ServiceNow India technology and business centre.

The report finds Indian firms leading the APAC region in AI deployment. About 25% of Indian enterprises are in the advanced transformation phase—surpassing Singapore (20%) and Australia (21%)—with many scaling from pilot projects to full AI integration.

India has a generational opportunity to lead globally by developing AI-ready talent and redesigning workflows,” Mathur noted. “The era of scattered pilots is behind us. Competing globally now requires bold execution, integrated strategy, and genuine human-AI collaboration built on trust, transparency, and skill.

Top-performing companies, labeled “AI Pacesetters,” are driving change by defining clear AI strategies, investing in talent, ensuring robust governance, and scaling tools like Agentic AI. These firms reported a 57% boost in productivity, with redesigned workflows yielding a 63% rise.

Agentic AI is automating routine tasks in roles like payroll clerks and change managers, while enhancing system administrators and implementation consultants. The greatest shifts are expected in manufacturing (8 million jobs), retail (7.6 million), and education (2.5 million).

With its large youth population and growing digital economy, India is set to add 3 million tech workers over five years. AI Configurators (66%), Data Scientists (65%), and Experience Designers (57%) are among the most sought-after roles.

Still, 30% of businesses cite data security as a major concern, while 26% are unsure about future skill requirements. The report urges companies to train employees to understand AI and ensure its responsible use.
