As a result of the revised Private Industrial Estate (PIE) initiative in Kerala, the state is anticipated to possess at least 25 private industrial parks by the fiscal year’s end. The government’s ambitious goal is to develop 100 private industrial parks across 1,000 acres within four years, according to a state official.
“So far, eight individual developers have been given permits to build private industrial parks in different parts of the state, and 20 applications are under process,” Director of Industries and Commerce S Harikishore said.
The Private Industrial Estate (PIE) program has been extended, permitting individual developers to construct industrial parks. As per the revised scheme, developers with a minimum of 10 acres of land can seek authorization to establish industrial parks.
The Department of Industries and Commerce in the state will offer grants of up to Rs 3 crore to each developer for building essential infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water supply, sewage, communication networks, and effluent treatment plants within these parks.
Like government-operated parks, the policy offers a simplified process for establishing private industrial parks. Red-category industries as notified by the state pollution control board are restricted from operating within these private industrial parks.
