On Tuesday, MSME Minister Narayan Rane introduced the MSME Geo-Tagging app, it aims to record the geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) of various locations related to MSE Cluster Development Programme (CDP) such as cluster projects, development and facilitation offices (DFOs) of the ministry, testing centers, and technology centers. This initial phase of the application is anticipated to enhance monitoring and implementation of cluster projects, leading to improved management and transparency.
During the Udyami Bharat event held to celebrate MSME Day 2023, Dr. Rajneesh, the Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner of the MSME Ministry, said that the app would have the capability to capture on-site images of organizations, infrastructure, and facilities. Users will be able to obtain location-specific details by marking a geographical point on the map within the app. This announcement was made during Dr. Rajneesh’s presentation at the event.
Dr. Rajneesh mentioned that the geo-tagged images would play a crucial role in assessing the progress of projects and providing valuable information for the approval process. The collected data will also be shared with the PM Gati Shakti portal.
The MSE-CDP, a cluster development program initiated by the MSME ministry, focuses on enhancing the capacity of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) through projects like Common Facility Centers (CFCs) and Infrastructure Development (IDs). Since its implementation in 2003, a total of 557 projects have been approved under this program. These include 222 CFC projects, and 335 ID projects. According to the MSME Dashboard, 92 CFCs and 200 ID projects have been successfully completed so far.
