The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) will begin beta testing for the B2B segment in parts of Delhi-NCR. The testing will begin for B2B in the groceries segment. On October 1st, beta test was conducted in parts of Bengaluru.

New Delhi, November 17: The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is set to launch beta testing for B2B segment in cities like Delhi and Mumbai. In October, ONDC launched beta testing in select parts of Bangalore. The next phase of testing will begin next month for the groceries vertical.
Experts have said that the network participants are in the process of integrating with the system. ONDC is an initiative to promote open networks for all aspects of exchange of goods & services over digital or electronic networks.
It’s an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. National Payment Corporation of India or NPCI is a shareholder in ONDC.
As per an analysis by ICICI Securities, addressable market for B2B e-commerce may witness a compounded annual growth rate of 55.8% over FY 23-FY25. It also states that digital penetration of the B2B space is expected to increase to 2.3% in FY25 from 1.2% in FY23.
Other vertical such as electronics, household items, beauty and personal care, fashion, home decor and also mobility are likely to be introduced.
The government backed e-commerce network will facilitate small merchants and mom-and-pop stores across India to access customers. Its aim is to create an interoperable network for digital commerce similar to the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) network for payments.
