The Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI), with the support of the Embassy of India in Cairo, successfully organized the Egypt-India Buyers-Sellers Meet (BSM) on Food & Beverage (F&B) and F&B Technology in Cairo, Egypt. The event brought together 20 leading Indian companies and over 100 Egyptian importers, creating a robust platform for bilateral trade engagement in the growing F&B sector.

The event was graced by His Excellency Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt, who highlighted the potential for deeper economic cooperation between the two nations. He noted that India’s vast agricultural base and strength in food processing align well with Egypt’s growing demand for diverse and high-quality food products, as well as modern food processing technologies.

During the BSM, Indian companies showcased a wide range of offerings, including packaged foods, spices, organic products, and advanced food processing and packaging technologies. Egyptian buyers expressed strong interest in these products, particularly in ready-to-eat meals, health foods, and cost-efficient processing solutions suited to local market needs.

The structured B2B interactions facilitated meaningful dialogue on product standards, market entry strategies, and future collaborations. The event underscored the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen food security, promote sustainable value chains, and support MSMEs in global trade.

In 2023-24, bilateral trade between India and Egypt stood at over US$ 6 billion, with food and agricultural products forming a significant part of the export basket. India ranks among the top ten trading partners of Egypt, and both countries have shown interest in further diversifying trade beyond traditional commodities. The F&B sector presents a promising avenue, given Egypt’s role as a gateway to Africa and India’s emergence as a reliable food supplier globally.
