US Presidential elections keep the world on tenterhooks

Competition between Donald Trump and his rival Joe Biden remained neck to neck as they are locked in a tight race as uncounted votes remain. While Biden is leading with 238 electoral college votes, Trump managed to secure 213 electoral college votes at the time of publishing.

Till now, Biden has taken Democratic-leaning states like California, Colorado, Columbia, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington. On the other hand, Trump is projected to win Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wyoming, Indiana, South Carolina and Utah.

This has been a historic election with voter turnout indicating the largest participation in a century – 102 million Americans.

  1. Donald Trump is trailing only by 25 electoral college votes. Still 87 EC votes have to come out yet. Arizona, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan states’ are yet to be announced. The real tilt happens in these states. I hope and wish the tilt will be in favor of Donald Trump since his win is required and desirable in the present context of “India – China debacle”.

Above all Joe Biden commented against the bifurcation of our Kashmir. My apprehension is that with Joe Biden in the seat, India’s interests will not be either supported or promoted.

So let us hope for the good and what is best for India.
