Employee and pensioner groups set to present demands as panel continues nationwide consultations.
Lucknow, June 22, 2026: The 8th Pay Commission has begun a crucial two-day meeting in Lucknow, where representatives of employee and pensioner organizations are expected to present their demands and recommendations regarding salary and pension revisions.
The consultation, being held on June 22 and 23, is part of the commission’s nationwide outreach program aimed at gathering feedback from various stakeholders before finalizing its recommendations for central government employees and pensioners.
The commission has already conducted similar meetings in Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir and is scheduled to hold upcoming consultations in Kolkata and Bhubaneswar.
Focus on Employee and Pensioner Demands
The primary objective of these meetings is to understand concerns and expectations from different employee groups and incorporate their views into the commission’s final report. Issues such as salary structure, fitment factor, allowances, pension benefits, and service conditions are expected to feature prominently in the discussions.
State Employee Representation Raises Concerns
According to media reports, Shailendra Dubey, Chairman of the All India Power Engineers Federation, expressed concern that state government employees and power sector representatives have not been allotted dedicated time slots for consultations.
Dubey argued that the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission could significantly impact power sector employees and state government staff, making their participation in the consultation process equally important.
Nationwide Consultation Process Underway
The commission is engaging with stakeholders across different regions to ensure a broad-based approach while preparing its recommendations. Inputs received during these meetings are expected to play a key role in shaping the final report that will influence the salaries and pensions of millions of government employees and retirees.
More details regarding the commission’s deliberations and stakeholder demands are expected to emerge following the conclusion of the Lucknow meetings.
