The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has reminded employers to complete an important provident fund compliance requirement by August 15.
According to the latest reminder, employers need to file the Electronic Challan-cum-Return, or ECR, for the July wage month and deposit the applicable provident fund contributions by the deadline.
EPFO shared the reminder on social media platform X, urging employers to complete both the filing and payment process on time.
The ECR is an important part of the provident fund compliance process for employers. For the July wage month, the organisation has specifically asked establishments to ensure that the required return is filed and the applicable PF amount is deposited by August 15.
Timely filing is important because it helps ensure that provident fund contributions are credited to employees’ accounts without unnecessary delay.
Employers therefore need to check their July wage month provident fund records and complete the required ECR filing as well as the contribution deposit before the deadline.
The reminder comes as the August 15 deadline approaches, giving employers limited time to complete the necessary compliance formalities.
EPFO has emphasised timely completion of the process so that employees’ provident fund contributions are reflected without delay.
Employers who are yet to complete the July ECR filing should therefore prioritise the process and ensure that both the return and applicable contributions are submitted by August 15.
