New Delhi, August 19: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is leading a 70-member business delegation to Singapore as India looks to deepen trade, investment and technology ties with one of its most important economic partners.
The three-day visit begins on August 19 and includes participation in the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), scheduled for August 20, according to the Commerce Ministry.
Goyal will participate in the roundtable alongside Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The Indian ministers will hold engagements with their Singaporean counterparts and other senior leaders during the visit.
70-Member Business Delegation
The business delegation accompanying Goyal includes representatives from a wide range of sectors, including artificial intelligence, manufacturing, infrastructure, financial services, healthcare, food and agriculture, logistics, maritime and trade.
According to the ministry, engagements during the visit will focus on partnerships, investments, greater market access, technology collaboration and talent development.
The participation of companies across emerging and traditional sectors is expected to help identify new commercial opportunities between the two countries.
Singapore India’s Major FDI Source
Singapore continues to be a key economic partner for India. During 2025-26, it was India’s largest source of foreign direct investment, with FDI inflows of $19.8 billion.
Cumulative FDI inflows from Singapore stood at $194.68 billion between April 2000 and March 2026, accounting for 24.72 per cent of India’s total FDI inflows during the period.
Singapore is also India’s largest trading partner within ASEAN and remains an important source of External Commercial Borrowings and Foreign Portfolio Investment.
Bilateral Trade Hits $36.1 Billion
Economic ties between the two countries have expanded considerably following the India-Singapore Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).
Bilateral trade has increased from $6.7 billion in FY 2004-05 to $36.1 billion in FY 2025-26.
The latest visit is expected to build on this growth by creating opportunities for greater business cooperation, investment and technology partnerships between India and Singapore.
