Agreement Secures Long-Term Iron Ore
New Delhi, September 9, 2026: Steel Exchange India Ltd (SEIL) has signed an agreement with state-owned NMDC for the sourcing of iron ore from the miner’s upcoming facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The agreement establishes a commercial and operational framework for the long-term supply and procurement of consistent-grade iron ore fines containing 61–63% iron. The material will be sourced from NMDC’s upcoming buffer stockpile and blending yard at Visakhapatnam.
According to SEIL, direct procurement from the upcoming facility is expected to provide more seamless logistics, lower freight costs and shorter transit times for its plant operations in Vizianagaram.
The arrangement is intended to provide consistent access to iron ore required for SEIL’s integrated steel manufacturing operations. The company expects the agreement to strengthen raw-material availability and support its expansion plans in the coming period.
The pact also creates a structured sourcing arrangement between the steel manufacturer and NMDC, potentially improving supply planning for SEIL as it expands its manufacturing capacity.
