New Delhi: Finnish smartphone maker HMD Global has launched its latest budget 5G smartphone, the HMD Vibe2 5G, in India with AI-powered features and Android 16 support at a starting price of Rs 9,499. The smartphone will go on sale from May 26 at 12 noon exclusively on flipkart.com.
The HMD Vibe2 5G is being positioned as India’s first smartphone integrated with Indus by Sarvam AI, aimed at offering localized AI experiences to Indian consumers. With the launch, the company is targeting young users looking for affordable 5G connectivity, long battery life, and AI-enabled smartphone features in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment.
Battery
The smartphone runs on the latest Android 16 operating system and packs a large 6000mAh adaptive battery. HMD claims the device is designed for all-day usage and comes bundled with an 18W charger in the box. The company has also focused on durability and design, offering IP64-rated dust and water resistance along with a premium finish.
Specifications
On the display front, the HMD Vibe2 5G features a 120Hz refresh rate screen aimed at delivering smoother scrolling, gaming, and video playback experiences. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, although the chipset name has not been officially disclosed.
For photography, the device sports a 50MP Dual AI rear camera setup that is designed to capture balanced and sharper images across different lighting conditions. On the front, the smartphone houses an 8MP selfie camera optimized for portrait shots and low-light photography.
Pricing
The HMD Vibe2 5G will be available in two storage variants — 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM with 128GB storage. Consumers can choose from three colour options including Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue, and Peach Pink.
HMD said the launch reflects its focus on bringing India-first innovation and accessible technology to users across metros as well as smaller towns. The company has collaborated with Sarvam AI, Sanchar Saathi, and Flipkart as part of its strategy to promote digital safety and AI-driven smartphone experiences in the country.
