New Delhi: Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026, and early leaks suggest the next-generation flagship smartphones could introduce significant upgrades across cameras, performance, battery life, display technology and connectivity.

While Apple has not officially confirmed any details, reports from supply-chain sources and industry analysts indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro lineup may feature a new camera system, a more powerful A20 Pro chip, longer battery life and a refined design.

Smarter Camera System Expected

The biggest upgrade could come in the camera department. Apple is reportedly testing a variable aperture main camera, allowing the lens to adjust the amount of light entering the sensor. This could improve low-light photography, portrait shots and video recording performance.

The company is also rumored to introduce a new three-layer stacked image sensor that may deliver better dynamic range, faster image processing and reduced image noise. The telephoto lens could receive a wider aperture for improved zoom photography in low-light conditions.

Reports suggest Apple may continue with a triple 48MP rear camera setup, while the front camera on the Pro Max could be upgraded to 24MP.

A20 Pro Chip to Power Next-Generation AI Features

The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro processor, reportedly built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process technology.

The chipset could offer:

  • Up to 15% better performance
  • Nearly 30% improved power efficiency
  • Faster AI processing
  • Enhanced gaming performance
  • Better multitasking capabilities

Leaks also suggest the Pro models may feature 12GB RAM.

Bigger Battery for Longer Usage

Apple is reportedly increasing battery capacity on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, with estimates ranging between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh.

Combined with the efficiency improvements of the A20 Pro chip, users could see noticeable gains in battery life and overall endurance.

Smaller Dynamic Island

The company may also reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, creating a cleaner display experience and offering more usable screen space.

Expected display sizes:

  • iPhone 18 Pro: 6.3-inch OLED
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: 6.9-inch OLED

New LTPO+ OLED panels could improve brightness, efficiency and display quality.

Faster Connectivity and New Colour Options

Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation C2 modem, bringing:

  • Faster 5G speeds
  • Improved power efficiency
  • Better mmWave support
  • Enhanced satellite communication capabilities

A new Dark Cherry finish is rumored to become the signature colour of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, alongside Silver, Dark Grey and Light Blue variants.
