BMW has launched the facelifted 7 Series and its all-electric sibling, the i7, in India, strengthening its presence in the country’s premium luxury sedan market. Prices for the updated flagship range start at ₹1.95 crore.
The new line-up includes the petrol-powered BMW 740 M Sport alongside electric i7 variants, giving buyers a choice between a conventional internal-combustion powertrain and a fully electric luxury sedan.
One of the key highlights of the updated range is the BMW i7. Depending on the variant, the electric flagship offers a claimed driving range of up to approximately 728 km, positioning it as a long-range option in India’s high-end electric vehicle segment.
The facelift continues to focus heavily on luxury, comfort and technology, areas that remain central to the 7 Series. The flagship sedan is aimed primarily at buyers looking for a chauffeur-driven luxury experience while retaining the performance and driving characteristics associated with BMW.
BMW’s decision to locally assemble the updated 7 Series and i7 at its Chennai plant is also significant. Local assembly allows the German luxury carmaker to manufacture its flagship models in India while serving growing demand in the premium vehicle market.
The 740 M Sport caters to customers who still prefer a petrol-powered flagship sedan, while the i7 extends BMW’s electric vehicle portfolio at the top end of the market.
With the refreshed models, BMW will continue competing in India’s luxury limousine segment, where buyers are increasingly being offered both internal-combustion and battery-electric alternatives.
The launch also reflects the broader shift taking place in the premium automotive market, with luxury manufacturers expanding their electric portfolios without immediately moving away from conventional powertrains.
With prices beginning at ₹1.95 crore, the facelifted BMW 7 Series and i7 sit at the top end of the company’s India portfolio, combining luxury, performance and increasingly electrified powertrain choices.
