Apple has opened pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in India following their global unveiling earlier this week. The new flagship smartphones come with significant upgrades to performance, cameras and battery life, while Apple has also pushed prices higher at the premium end of its smartphone portfolio. Pre-orders began in India on September 12, with retail availability scheduled for September 18.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 for the 256GB model, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900. Both models are available with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.
At the heart of the new Pro series is Apple’s A20 Pro chip. Apple says the processor, combined with a next-generation vapor chamber cooling system, delivers its highest sustained iPhone performance yet. The devices run iOS 27 and also integrate Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features.
Camera upgrades are another major focus. Apple has equipped the phones with a new 48MP Fusion Main camera featuring variable aperture, giving users greater control over photography. Apple describes it as its most advanced camera system yet on an iPhone.
Battery performance has also received attention, particularly on the Pro Max. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the biggest increase in battery life ever offered on an iPhone, helped by improvements in Apple silicon and a larger battery.
The new phones are offered in Burgundy, Glacier, Silver and Black finishes. India is among the first wave of markets receiving the devices, with sales beginning on September 18.
This year’s launch is particularly notable because Apple has also entered the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo. The company’s first book-style foldable starts at ₹2,99,900 in India and will be available separately in October.
With the iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo, Apple is expanding its presence further into the ultra-premium smartphone segment while betting on improved performance, cameras, AI capabilities and new form factors to drive its latest upgrade cycle.
