News Story:
Mumbai, June 19: Reliance Industries has unveiled an ambitious artificial intelligence roadmap that aims to bring AI services to millions of Indians across sectors such as communication, healthcare, education, business and agriculture. Speaking at the company’s 49th Annual General Meeting, Jio Chairman Akash Ambani said the next phase of Jio’s growth will be driven by AI built specifically for India and its diverse linguistic landscape.
The company is developing a sovereign AI infrastructure through Reliance Intelligence, which is building a large-scale AI backbone in Jamnagar. The facility will run on Reliance’s renewable energy ecosystem, with an initial capacity of 120 MW expected by the end of 2026. Once fully operational, the infrastructure could support more than 200,000 H100-equivalent GPUs, positioning it among the largest AI computing platforms in the region.
Jio is also working on a suite of AI-powered services, including Jio Bharat IQ, AI Vyapar, Jio Health IQ, Jio Learn IQ and Jio Krishi IQ. These platforms are being designed to help farmers, students, small businesses and households access AI-powered solutions in their preferred language. The company plans to offer trusted and affordable AI services across 22 Indian languages.
A major upcoming innovation is the Jio Call Agent, which will integrate AI directly into voice calls with user consent. The AI assistant will be able to transcribe conversations, generate summaries and perform tasks such as booking cabs, ordering food, reserving tables and scheduling meetings. Reliance believes its AI strategy, combined with partnerships with Google, Meta and Nvidia, will help India become not just a consumer of AI technology but a global leader in the field.
