JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk EV at a starting price of Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), expanding its electric vehicle portfolio with a new SUV available in both five- and seven-seat configurations.
Prices range from Rs 19.49 lakh for the seven-seat Excite variant to Rs 23.49 lakh for the seven-seat Essence. The five-seat Essence is priced at Rs 22.99 lakh, while the seven-seat Exclusive costs Rs 21.99 lakh.
MG is also offering the electric SUV under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, with prices starting at Rs 13.99 lakh. Customers choosing the programme will have to pay a separate battery rental charge of Rs 4.90 per km. The introductory prices are applicable to limited units.
The Hector Tomahawk EV is the first MG model in India based on the company’s ADAPT architecture. It gets a 69.2kWh battery paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 204hp and 310Nm. MG claims a MIDC-certified range of 517km and a 0-100kph acceleration time of 8.2 seconds.
The electric SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 90kW. MG says the battery can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in around 35 minutes using a 90kW DC charger. A 7.4kW AC charger takes around 12.5 hours for a 10-100 percent charge.
Inside, the Hector Tomahawk EV features a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display. Equipment includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, 256-colour ambient lighting and a 10-speaker Infinity audio system.
Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS with 11 functions, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane-departure warning and prevention.
The SUV also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functions. The former can power compatible external appliances, while V2V allows the vehicle to supply power to another EV.
MG will begin deliveries of the Hector Tomahawk EV in September. It will compete with electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and Kia Carens Clavis EV in the three-row segment, while the five-seat version will face models including the Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e.
