In the light of the rampant scale at which the Coronavirus has engulfed the country (-341 cases as on Sunday), the Centre and state governments have decided to completely shutdown 75 districts which have reported the incidence of this disease across. This decision comes in the wake of a high level meeting attended by chief secretaries of all States and the Cabinet Secretary and the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Some of the states which have been locked down include Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Interstate bus services, metro rail services and train services have also been suspended till March 31 in order to extend the restrictions on the movement of non-essential passenger transport. Goods trains, however, have been exempted from movement. The government had also appealed the citizens to abide by a Janta Curfew on March 22, which received an overwhelming response.
