Apple exports India-made iPhones to Europe

Bolstering the government’s ambitious Make in India programme, Apple has started exports of iPhones manufactured in India to some European markets. Apple’s contract manufacturer, Wistron Corp’s India arm, has become the first among Apple’s contract makers to export the smart phones, from its facility in Bengaluru. This is also the company, which started assembling iPhones in the country back in 2016. The move would also go a long way towards establishing India as a lucrative export hub for smartphone companies & reducing the cost of production of iPhones. At the same time, it is likely to benefit Apple which is looking for destinations other than China to produce iPhones, given the issues being faced due to the US-China trade war.
