Bharat Craft, an Alibaba-like MSME portal

Union MSME minister, Nitin Gadkari, stated that the government is working on Bharat Craft, an Alibaba-like e-marketplace for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “We are developing an e-market portal like Alibaba. We will call it Bharat Craft. This will provide a direct interface between buyers and sellers. In the next 2-3 years, this portal will bring a turnover of about Rs 10 lakh crore to the MSME sector,” the minister said. The platform is also expected to boost exports, generate employment from 10 crore at present to 15 crore in 2024, and increase the MSME sector’s contribution to economic growth from 20% currently to 50% in the next five years.
