Centre to boost infra spending

To give an impetus to the economy, which had a dismal GDP performance in the first quarter of the year, Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government will expedite infrastructure spending to bolster consumption and try to enhance the GDP numbers in the second quarter. The minister also stated that the government is taking into consideration the suggestions of the auto industry which is currently going through a major sales downturn. She added further, “Government response on home buyers will be sooner than later”, and measures are being taken to reinvigorate the stumbling consumer confidence in the banking sector.
