The 2019 Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange has pointed out that Indians make up over 18% of all international students in the US, making them the second highest foreign students in US. The report also stated that the number of Indians studying in the United States increased by almost 3% yoy to over 2 lakh in the 2018-19. . Launching the report in New Delhi, Charisse Phillips, US Embassy minister counsellor for consular affairs, said “Student exchanges between our two countries help strengthen the foundation upon which our strategic partnership is built.”
It also stipulated that international students contributed US$ 44.7 billion to the economy in 2018, an increase of 5.5% from the previous year.
