Indian tea export remains stagnant from Jan’19-Aug’19

Tea Board has reported that tea exports from India remained virtually stagnant in the first eight months of 2019 in volume terms. While tea exports until the first 8 months of the year stood at 162.18 million kilograms, the same period during the previous year witnessed 162.15 million kg of tea being exported. This has been attributed to reduced off take by CIS nations, which stood at 36.63 million kg this year as against 41.35 million kg last year and Pakistan, which imported 6.09 million kg during Jan-Aug 2019 as against 10.37 million kg in the same period last year. Tea exports to Iran, however, saw a steep yoy jump from 17.98 million kg to 40.96 million kg.
