London Mayor bats for favourable norms for India

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, is championing the cause of framing preferential norms for India, akin to those offered to China, in order to give an impetus to India’s investment in Britain. One such area where China, unlike India, currently enjoys flexibility is easier UK student visa application regulations. He lamented that due to the hostile immigration policies of the government, London is not witnessing the influx of many talented students, particularly talented Indians.

FDI from India into London increased by 255% from 2017 to 2018, according to a data of London & Partners (L&P), the Mayor of London’s promotional agency. Estimates suggest that Indian businesses in London are also a major source of employment generation, providing work to about 50,000 inhabitants of the city.
