New Delhi, November 3: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced the launch of Communities feature on WhatsApp that will organise conversation, with the same interest, under one designated umbrella. The social media mogul says that with its latest feature, WhatsApp will be more private and secure in comparison to its competitors.

The announcement was made by Zuckerberg on Thursday saying that the latest feature of Communities will be available from the same day i.e., November 3rd, 2022. Along with the Communities feature, the app will also now allow in-chat polls, video calls with upto 32-person and create groups with upto 1024 WhatsApp users.

“This is a major evolution for WhatsApp and something I have been focused on for the last year…,” Zuckerberg said on the launch of WhatsApp’s latest feature. According to the Meta owner, the app will enable creation of sub-groups, multiple threads, announcement channels, along with other features. Its latest features aim at helping users and admins manage their groups better and have more meaningful conversations.

WhatsApp’s Communities feature will host a “directory of groups” and anyone will be able to run a community of their own on the platform and then invite multiple groups to join in. However, these groups will only get added to the Community if the admins of the group have accepted the invite.

WhatsApp notes that users can tap on the new communities tab at the top of their chats on Android and at the bottom on iOS to start using the feature.  Users will be able to start a new Community from scratch or add existing groups.

The polling feature will allow questions on in-chat polls and let the user add up to 12 possible answers in a separate screen within the app. Users can now also share files upto 2 GB and admin can now delete messages in a group chat.
