New draft industrial policy for Kerala

P Rajeeve the Minister for Industries, Law & Coir, Kerala, unveiled draft industrial policy for the state. The new industrial policy is set to utilize the inherent strengths of the state and stimulate investments in ‘sunrise’ sectors. It particularly emphasizes on creating more employment, retaining the talent pool, ensuring balanced regional development and giving incentives. It also envisions sustainable and responsible investments in the state. 

The priority sectors as identified by the policy include, Artificial Intelligence, Space sector, Ayurveda, Biotechnology, designing, Electronic System Design & Manufacturing, Electric Vehicles, Engineering & Research and Development, Food technology, and Graphene. Logistics, medical equipment, nano technology, renewable energy, retail, robotics, tourism & hospitality, 3D printing, marine cluster, Hi-tech farming and high value-added rubber products are the other sectors that will be in focus in the new industrial policy of the state.

The new policy would be released in January 2023, and will be effective from April 1, 2023.
