PM Modi launches ₹4,800 cr development projects in Gujarat

On October 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore in Gujarat’s Amreli district, aimed at enhancing water supply, infrastructure, and tourism across several districts.

According to an official release, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore in Amreli, Gujarat, on October 28. The initiatives span approximately 1,600 projects across districts like Jamnagar, Morbi, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar, Kutch, and Botad, focusing on infrastructure, water resources, and tourism enhancement.

Among the significant projects, PM Modi inaugurated and launched water supply initiatives valued at Rs 705 crore, including the Bharatmata Sarovar reservoir on the Gagadio river, a public-private partnership developed with the Dholakia Foundation at a cost of Rs 35 crore. This reservoir has a capacity of 24.50 crore liters and is expected to improve groundwater levels and support local irrigation. In addition, he inaugurated 1,000 recharge projects for pits, bores, and wells, as well as 590 projects by the Water Resource Department worth Rs 20 crore. The Navda to Chavand bulk pipeline in Botad district will deliver 28 crore liters of water to 1,298 villages and 36 towns, and the Pasavi Group Augmentation Water Supply Scheme will improve water access in Bhavnagar district, benefiting around 95 villages.

Transportation projects worth over Rs 2,800 crore was also launched, including the four-laning of NH 151A and the Dwarka-Khambhaliya-Devariya sections, costing Rs 768 crore and Rs 1,025 crore, respectively. Additionally, a new road project linking Dhrol Bypass to Amran will be initiated.

To promote eco-tourism, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation for projects worth Rs 200 crore, including a top-tier eco-tourism site at the Karli Recharge Reservoir in Porbandar’s Mokarsagar. These initiatives aim to support sustainable growth and boost economic development across Gujarat.
