Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj on Friday to inaugurate multiple development projects worth ₹5,500 crore. These included infrastructure upgrades for Mahakumbh 2025, temple corridors, and clean Ganga initiatives.
The Prime Minister’s visit began at 12:15 pm with pooja and darshan at Sangam Nose. He also performed rituals at Akshay Vata Vriksh, Hanuman Mandir, and Saraswati Koop before exploring the Mahakumbh exhibition site. Following this, he inaugurated several projects aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure and connectivity.
The development initiatives for Mahakumbh 2025 included the construction of 10 new Road Over Bridges (RoBs) or flyovers, permanent ghats, and riverfront roads to improve transportation and infrastructure in Prayagraj. Additionally, in line with his commitment to a cleaner and healthier Ganga, the Prime Minister launched projects focused on intercepting, diverting, and treating minor drains to prevent untreated water from flowing into the river.
Infrastructure enhancements also extended to drinking water and power supply systems, further supporting the city’s growth. Spiritual tourism benefitted significantly from the inauguration of temple corridors, including the Bharadwaj Ashram Corridor, Shringverpur Dham Corridor, Akshayvat Corridor, and Hanuman Mandir Corridor. These initiatives aimed to provide better access for devotees and promote religious tourism.
Another key highlight of the visit was the launch of the “Kumbh Sah’AI’yak” chatbot, designed to assist devotees with real-time updates and guidance for Mahakumbh Mela 2025.
