PMO seeks inputs on making India electronics manufacturing hub

Suggestions from numerous global companies were sought by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on their requirements to make India their production base and an electronics export hub. These firms include industry stalwarts like Apple, Samsung and Intel. The move is an attempt to entice foreign investors to shift their attention from China to India. It is believed that the high level panel set up by the PMO is of the opinion that the thrust of electronics exports should be on smartphones.

As electronic products are the second largest contributor to the import bill, India wants to capitalize on the prospect created by the Sino-US trade tensions & evolve as an attractive base for manufacturing and exports.
