Solar Industries India Ltd. has achieved a major milestone by securing two significant export orders, showcasing its growing prominence in the global defence sector. Along with its subsidiary Economic Explosives Ltd. (EEL), the company has signed contracts worth ₹2,039 crore to supply advanced defence products to international clients over the next four years.
These deals underscore the increasing demand for Indian-manufactured defence technologies, as well as Solar Industries’ expertise in providing cutting-edge solutions such as ammunition and explosives. Although the identities of the international clients remain undisclosed, this marks the second consecutive month of success for the company. In November 2024, Solar Industries had bagged another export order worth ₹399.4 crore, to be executed within three years. These achievements further strengthen India’s role as a trusted supplier in the global defence supply chain.
Beyond its international success, Solar Industries is making remarkable contributions to India’s indigenous defence capabilities. A landmark achievement is the development of Nagastra-1, India’s first indigenous loitering munition, through its subsidiary EEL. Loitering munitions, also known as “suicide drones,” hover over battlefields to identify and strike targets with precision, combining surveillance and offensive capabilities.
The Indian Army is set to induct 480 units of Nagastra-1, procured under an emergency order. This advanced weapon system will bolster India’s military capabilities, offering enhanced precision and flexibility for infantry operations. The Nagastra-1 marks a critical step forward in India’s push for self-reliance in defence technologies, aligning with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative.
Solar Industries’ accomplishments reflect the dual objectives of strengthening India’s global defence exports and enhancing its indigenous defence capabilities. By combining technological innovation with a strategic focus on global markets, the company is contributing to India’s emergence as a major player in the international defence industry.
With export orders worth ₹2,039 crore and the successful development of Nagastra-1, Solar Industries continues to demonstrate the potential of Indian companies to meet the demands of both global and domestic defence markets. These achievements highlight the nation’s growing expertise in advanced military technologies and its commitment to becoming a global defence hub.
