Turkish hazelnuts, known worldwide as the’miracle nut,’ have been officially released in India following a four-year campaign spearheaded by the Turkish Hazelnut Exporters Associations. The launch event was held today at the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi, in partnership with the Nuts and Dry Fruits Council of India.

The occasion was attended by significant officials, including Turkish Ambassador Fırat Sunel, Chairman of the Blacksea Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Exporters Association Mr. Hasan Osman Sabır, and President of NDFCI Mr. Gunjan Jain. This collaboration will introduce Turkish Hazelnuts to the Indian market as both a nutritious component and a healthy snack, with the goal of elevating the culinary experience throughout India.

Turkey, which produces 65% of the world’s hazelnuts, has a long history of hazelnut cultivation. The country’s success is due to its traditional traditions, which preserve the flavour and nutritional value of the nuts. Turkish hazelnuts are processed in facilities that adhere to the highest international food safety standards, ensuring superior quality.

According to Fırat Sunel, Turkish Ambassador, “The launch of Turkish hazelnuts in the Indian market marks a significant milestone in the partnership between Turkey and India. Our hazelnuts are not only a testament to Türkiye’s rich agricultural heritage but also to our commitment to quality and tradition. This initiative highlights the strengthening of bilateral relations and opens exciting opportunities for further collaboration in the food and culinary sectors.”

Turkish hazelnuts are well-known for their sweet, unique flavour and peculiar texture, but they also have a high nutritional profile, including energy, vitamins, dietary fibre, and monounsaturated fat. These nuts are naturally cholesterol-free and offer a healthy and enjoyable alternative to traditional snacks.
