US-India trade talks during G20 meet

Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, & other world leaders will meet US President Mr. Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Japan to hold a discussion over major matters, including trade on June 28. The summit gives an opportunity to global leaders to hold discussions about the state of the economy, trade, energy, innovation, workforce development, quality infrastructure and women’s economic empowerment. It developed as a response to the global financial crisis to address the modern challenges to global economy. This meeting comes in the aftermath of several recent developments such as the Indian government raising tariffs on 28 US goods and the termination of benefits meted out to India under the GSP regime. There are also concerns in India about the capping H-1B visas to countries that force foreign companies to store data locally.
