Westfalia Fruit’s first Hass avocado shipment to India

Westfalia Fruit has successfully shipped its first batch of Hass avocados from South Africa to India, which marks an important step for both the company and the South African avocado industry. This shipment was possible due to a new trade agreement between South Africa and India, allowing Hass avocados to meet India’s rising demand.

Westfalia Fruit celebrates their first shipment of Hass avocados to India. This milestone is noteworthy for both the company’s export aspirations and the South African avocado industry as a whole. This milestone follows the completion of a long-awaited phytosanitary agreement between South Africa and India.

The shipment, which arrived in time to satisfy increasing demand in India, demonstrates Westfalia Fruit’s dedication to expanding its global reach.

The physical proximity of Africa to India gives South African avocados a competitive advantage over Latin American avocados, which have longer transit periods. India, a fast-increasing fruit market, provides tremendous chances for South Africa, particularly from April to October.

According to Zac Bard, business development executive at Westfalia Fruit, “We are thrilled to celebrate the arrival of our first shipment of South African Hass avocados to the India market. This achievement highlights our dedication to expanding our global footprint and delivering top-quality produce to new markets. We look forward to establishing a strong presence in India and strengthening the ties between our two countries. Supplies of high-quality, large-sized Hass avocados from South Africa to India will complement our supply abilities from other sourcing origins.”

While India’s avocado market is significantly smaller than Europe’s, it has enormous potential for expansion. Westfalia Fruit remains committed to capitalising on this opportunity to strengthen South Africa’s position in the global avocado market, assuring a consistent supply of high-quality avocados to Indian consumers.
