New Delhi, November 4: The idea of a biodegradable water bottle will soon become a reality. Cove, a Los Angeles based company, announced launch of eco-friendly water bottles that will decompose in a span of 90 days.

The product was originally scheduled to release in 2019. Challenges such as supply chain issues, pandemic restrictions & the chemistry involved in creating an eco-friendly bottle delayed the launch. The company describes its water bottle as a thin, sturdy cylinder, eggshell-white with a matching lid.

Alex Totterman, Cove’s founder and chief executive, says “If someone gave that to you, you probably would have no idea that that wasn’t a plastic bottle.”

Cove began developing an eco-friendly, biodegradable water bottle in 2017 & is ready to roll out the product in the international market at $2.99 (Rs. 246.35). It has raised $20 million since 2018 from luminaries like Salesforce co-founder Marc Benioff; media heir James Murdoch; and Valor Equity Partners, an early backer of Tesla Inc.
