New Delhi, September 1, 2026: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has entered into an agreement with the United States government aimed at prioritising access to affordable medicines for American patients.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony at the White House alongside agreements involving other pharmaceutical companies.
As part of the arrangement, Sun Pharma will extend Most Favoured Nation pricing to state Medicaid programmes.
The commitment will also apply to the company’s future innovative medicine launches in the US market.
Most Favoured Nation pricing generally ensures that a buyer receives the lowest price available for a medicine.
The agreement also recognises Sun Pharma’s investments in the United States by delaying Section 232 tariffs on its innovative pharmaceutical products for more than two years.
The company did not disclose additional terms of the agreement.
Sun Pharma said the United States remains an important market for its investments across clinical development, sales and marketing, active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing and finished product manufacturing.
The US is currently Sun Pharma’s largest market for innovative medicines and contributes around 27 per cent of the company’s total global revenue.
The company has been expanding its presence in the region and earlier announced a definitive agreement to acquire Organon & Co. at an enterprise value of USD 11.75 billion.
Sun Pharma also continues to expand its presence in dermatology, immunology, cutaneous oncology and ophthalmology.
