The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has announced a major relief for National Pension System (NPS) subscribers by extending the cut-off time for same-day investments. Investors can now contribute until 1:30 PM to receive the same day’s Net Asset Value (NAV), compared to the earlier deadline of 11:00 AM.
The revised rule provides subscribers with an additional 2.5 hours to complete their NPS contributions, making it easier to qualify for same-day unit allocation. The move is intended to ensure that investor funds are deployed into the market more quickly, reducing idle time and improving long-term wealth creation.
Under the new guidelines, subscribers will receive the same day’s closing NAV only if their contribution reaches the Trustee Bank and is successfully matched before 1:30 PM. Simply initiating the payment before the deadline will not be sufficient.
The updated timing applies across all major NPS contribution platforms, including eNPS, D-Remit, UPI, Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), Points of Presence (PoPs), Government Nodal Offices, Tatkal NPS and STAR NPS.
PFRDA has also advised subscribers and service providers to account for banking processing times to ensure funds are credited before the cut-off. The regulator believes the revised timeline will make the investment process more convenient while helping subscribers maximise their retirement savings through faster market participation.
