New Delhi, August 19: Global cybersecurity company Proofpoint is expanding its operations in India with a new AI Security Engineering Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad and plans to hire more than 200 engineers over the next 12 to 24 months.
The expansion comes amid increasing demand for artificial intelligence-driven cybersecurity solutions in the country. Proofpoint said its India business has tripled over the past year, supported by double-digit growth in new customer acquisitions.
The new Hyderabad facility will focus on developing and advancing next-generation AI security technologies. The planned recruitment of more than 200 engineers will help the company build up the new centre and strengthen its technology capabilities in India.
Proofpoint Expands India Operations
Proofpoint has been serving customers in India for several years through its Asia-Pacific and Japan organisation, supported by regional sales teams and channel partners.
In March 2025, the company established a dedicated local team in India as it witnessed increasing demand and business momentum in the market.
Proofpoint CEO Sumit Dhawan said the company is now expanding further through the Hyderabad AI Security Engineering Centre of Excellence and a new office in Delhi. It will also continue investing in sales, customer success, technical support and its partner ecosystem.
According to Dhawan, these investments, combined with strong market demand, have supported the company’s growth in India over the past 12 months.
New Delhi Office, Pune Centre
Along with its technology expansion in Hyderabad, Proofpoint has established a new office in Delhi to strengthen its go-to-market presence in the country.
The company already has an operational hub in Bengaluru as well as a Centre of Excellence in Pune. The Pune centre currently has more than 550 team members.
The latest hiring plan could further expand Proofpoint’s workforce in India while strengthening the country’s role in the development of AI-powered cybersecurity technologies.
The expansion comes at a time when businesses are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence while simultaneously facing new security challenges associated with AI systems, data and digital infrastructure.
