Maruti Suzuki India has announced another increase in car prices, making some of its models and variants more expensive from September 2026.
The country’s largest carmaker said prices of select vehicles will rise by up to Rs 20,000. Unlike some of its earlier revisions, the latest hike will not apply uniformly across the company’s entire portfolio.
The company has attributed the latest increase to persistent inflation and higher production costs. However, it has not yet disclosed the exact model-wise and variant-wise price changes.
This is the third time Maruti Suzuki has increased vehicle prices in 2026.
Earlier, on May 21, the company had announced that prices across its range would be increased by up to Rs 30,000 from June. At the time, Maruti Suzuki said it had taken several steps to absorb rising costs, but continued pressure from higher input prices made it necessary to pass on part of the burden to customers.
The company again raised prices across its model range by up to Rs 30,000 in August. The latest September revision therefore marks another round of price increases within a short period.
Higher raw material prices have remained a major challenge for automakers. Commodities and metals used in vehicle production have become more expensive, putting pressure on manufacturing costs.
Maruti Suzuki executives had earlier indicated that the company might have to pass a portion of rising commodity costs on to buyers if such pressures continued.
The company has also pointed to the impact of geopolitical tensions in West Asia on prices of oil, gas and some metals used by the automobile industry. However, it had said that it was not facing any major supply disruption at that time.
For prospective buyers, the latest revision means the final price impact will depend on the model and variant chosen. Customers planning to purchase a Maruti Suzuki vehicle may therefore need to check the updated ex-showroom prices once the new rates are implemented.
