Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company to promote and distribute its dengue vaccine QDENGA in India’s private market.
Under the agreement, Dr Reddy’s will be responsible for private-market distribution, disease awareness initiatives and engagement with healthcare professionals. Takeda will retain rights for the public market, along with legal ownership and overall medical and brand oversight.
QDENGA is expected to become available in India during the first half of 2027, subject to the completion of applicable local regulatory processes. The vaccine received marketing authorisation from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in July 2026 for individuals aged 4 to 60 years.
QDENGA is a live-attenuated tetravalent dengue vaccine designed to provide immune coverage against all four dengue virus serotypes — DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4. It is administered through a two-dose regimen, with the doses given three months apart.
Dr Reddy’s described the introduction of the vaccine as an important development for India’s healthcare landscape. The company said its collaboration with Takeda would support access to QDENGA for eligible individuals in the private market.
Takeda also said that its partnership with Dr Reddy’s would help facilitate timely private-market access once the vaccine becomes available in India.
QDENGA has been approved in 43 countries and more than 32 million doses have been distributed globally. Its planned introduction in India will add a new vaccination option to the country’s efforts to address dengue.
The partnership also combines Takeda’s ownership and medical oversight with Dr Reddy’s distribution and healthcare engagement capabilities, creating a framework for the vaccine’s private-market rollout in India.
