Planning to Buy a Maruti Car? Prices Set to Rise by Up to ₹30,000 From June

Highlights:

  • Maruti Suzuki to increase car prices from June 2026
  • Price hike of up to ₹30,000 across select models
  • Popular cars like Swift, WagonR, Brezza, and Dzire likely to get costlier
  • Rising raw material and logistics costs cited as key reasons
  • Customers may rush to book cars before revised prices take effect
  • Entry-level and budget buyers expected to feel the biggest impact
  • Higher on-road prices may increase EMIs and ownership costs

If you have been delaying your new car purchase, this may be the right time to head to the showroom. India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has announced a fresh price hike across its range of vehicles from June 2026, which means customers will soon have to pay more for popular models like the Swift, WagonR, Brezza, Dzire, Ertiga and Grand Vitara.

The company said prices will go up by as much as ₹30,000 depending on the model and variant. For middle-class families and first-time buyers, even a small increase in EMI or down payment can make a noticeable difference, especially at a time when household expenses are already rising.

For consumers who have been planning to buy a car before the festive season, the announcement has created urgency. Auto dealers in several cities are already expecting a spike in showroom visits and bookings as customers try to lock current prices before the new rates kick in next month.

According to the company, rising raw material prices, higher logistics costs, and increasing operational expenses have forced the automaker to revise prices. Maruti Suzuki said it tried to absorb a large part of the cost increase internally, but continued inflation has made a partial price pass-through unavoidable.

The timing is significant because the Indian automobile market is already witnessing rising ownership costs. Along with higher vehicle prices, buyers are also paying more for insurance, fuel, registration, and maintenance. As a result, many budget-conscious customers are carefully evaluating whether to upgrade now or postpone their purchase.

For someone buying an entry-level hatchback, a ₹20,000–₹30,000 increase could impact financing plans or monthly EMIs. On the other hand, buyers looking at SUVs and premium models may see an even larger impact on on-road prices once taxes and insurance are added.

Industry experts believe the move could also influence buying patterns in the coming weeks. Customers may rush to dealerships in May to avoid paying higher prices later, while some may explore discounts on existing stock before revised pricing becomes effective.
