New Delhi, June 30: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has officially discontinued the mAadhaar application from June 30, 2026, replacing it with the new Aadhaar App that offers improved security, privacy, and a more seamless digital experience for Aadhaar holders.
The new application enables users to access several Aadhaar-related services directly from their smartphones, reducing the need for physical documents and in-person visits. UIDAI has urged citizens to download the new Aadhaar App and use it for all future Aadhaar services.
The upgraded app allows users to update their mobile number and address, download e-Aadhaar, securely share identity through QR code verification, share digital contact details via QR code, book appointments at Aadhaar Seva Kendras, and track the status of Aadhaar update requests.
To begin using the app, users need to select their preferred language, enter their Aadhaar number, verify the mobile number linked with Aadhaar, complete face authentication, and set a secure six-digit PIN for future logins.
The Aadhaar App supports devices running Android 9.0 or above and iOS 16 or later. According to UIDAI, the application has already been downloaded more than 3 crore times, reflecting its growing adoption among users.
