New Delhi: Demand for Apple’s iPhone 17 has surged across India as consumers rush to purchase the device amid speculation that the company could increase prices in the coming months. The heightened buying activity has resulted in limited availability of several models at retail stores and online platforms.
According to market reports, retailers have witnessed a sharp rise in customer enquiries over the past few weeks, with many buyers choosing to purchase the iPhone 17 immediately rather than wait for future pricing decisions. Retailers have also reported that fresh supplies, particularly of the base iPhone 17 model, have remained limited.
Several customers shopping through major e-commerce platforms have also faced difficulty finding their preferred colour or storage variants due to constrained inventory.
The surge in demand follows Apple’s recent decision to increase prices of selected products, including MacBooks, iPads and smart home devices, citing higher memory and component costs. However, the company has not announced any price revision for the iPhone lineup.
Industry analysts noted that India’s iPhone shipments crossed 3.5 million units during the April–June quarter, up from 3.1 million units in the same period last year. Promotional sales across online marketplaces also contributed to the stronger performance.
Market experts believe concerns over rising component costs and tightening supply of memory and storage modules have prompted many consumers to advance their purchases, even though Apple has yet to confirm any increase in iPhone prices.
